Akron Baldwin Elkins, age 81 of Broadway, died Thursday (2/28/2013) at the Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro. She was born in Forsyth County, daughter of the late Robert Sherman Baldwin and Florence Rash Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Virginia Baldwin, Bernice Lineberry, Floyd Baldwin, Robert Baldwin and her husband Carl Elkins. She was a member of the Juniper Springs Baptist Church and was retired from the ABC Commission. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Lee and Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are her daughters Patsy Rogers and husband Paul of Sanford, NC and Debra Morrison and husband Danny of Sanford, NC; Son David Elkins and wife Debbie of Sanford, NC; Brothers Sherman Baldwin of Jacksonville, Florida and Warren Baldwin of Florida. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Sunday at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church and other times at the home of Paul and Patsy Rogers, 193 Peppermill Road Sanford. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
