Althea Thomas Boggs, age 85 of Sanford, died Sunday (8/30/2015) at First Health Hospice Center in Pinehurst. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Mallie Grady Thomas and Irene O'Quinn Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers M.G. Thomas and Larry Thomas, Sister Faye Mae Thomas, and her husband Richard Boggs. She was a member of the Juniper Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Rev. John Hackney and Rev. David Grissom officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Memory Gardens. Surviving are her sisters Ethylene T. Stone of Sanford, NC, Nora Lee T. Grissom of Vass, NC and Bernice T. Roop of Christiansburg, VA and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the Juniper Springs Baptist Church Music Fund, 852 Buckhorn Road Sanford, NC 27330.
