Annie Laura Smith Thomas, age 94 of Hillsborough, died Wednesday (10/17/2012) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was born in Layfette, Alabama, daughter of the late George Lee Smith and Ida Yarborough Smith She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband John David Thomas and son Joe Welch. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Surviving are her son David Thomas of Hillsborough, NC; grandson George Thomas of Hillsborough,NC; Five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
