Arthur William Heskett, age 84 of Sanford, died Sunday (7/30/2017) at Westfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Belmont Co. Ohio, son of the late Otis Thomas Heskett and Vera Tracy Heskett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Catherine Beam Heskett and his daughter, Pamela Sue O'Hotto. He was retired from the United States Army with twenty seven years of service. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a 50 year member of Sanford Masonic Lodge No. 151 AF&AM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce McInnis officiating. Burial with Full Military and Masonic Honors will follow in Lee Memory Gardens. Surviving is his wife Judith Brady Heskett of the home. Son, William Lawrence Heskett of Sanford, NC. Daughters Cynthia Louise Hilliard of Olivia, NC and Cheryl Lynn Jackson and husband Mike of Olympia, WA. Step-children James C. Maddox of Sanford, NC, Tommy Lee Maddox of Holly Springs, NC and Debbie Myers of Columbus, Ohio. Brothers Charles Simeral of Ohio and Jerry Pyle of Utah. Seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday from 10-11am at the Smith Funeral Home.
