Belinda Gail Dickens, age 71 of Sanford, passed away on Saturday (5/20/23).  She was born on November 26, 1951 in Lee County, daughter of the late Phil Mont Dickens and Edna Morris Rosser.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-father, Robert Rosser.  Gail was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Sanford and loved her Sunday school class.  She enjoyed restoring old houses and antique furniture.  She enjoyed beach music and shagging. One of her favorite things was racing her fathers 69 corvette- 427 and picking on her blue demon driving brother-in-law.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (5/24/2023) at 3:00pm at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Sanford with Pastor Matt Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shallow Well Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Surviving is her daughter, Holly Gail Frater (Dr. Craig Frater) of Raleigh, NC.  Sons, Brandon Wells Duty (Renee McPherson) of Sanford, NC and Joseph Michael Duty II of Sanford, NC.  Sister, Sheila Sloan (Tim) of Broadway, NC.  Grandchildren, Brandon Jeffrey Duty, Ashely Star Inman, Kaleb Munday, Jordan Michael Duty, Joseph Michael Duty III. and niece, Hillary Marshall.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
