Bernice Poindexter Brantley, age 95 of Broadway, passed away on Tuesday (6/9/26) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital Reid Heart Center. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Mallory Esley Poindexter and Flora Ethel Lineberry Poindexter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of more than 60 years, Frederick Brantley; siblings, Robert Poindexter, Todd Poindexter, Tom Poindexter, Edith P. Cary, Jewel P. Hardister and her granddaughter, Jennifer Cummings.  Bernice was a woman of strong faith and attended Crossroads Ministries in Broadway for many years.  She loved her job as an upholsterer, working for more than twenty years and even spent time at working with her husband after his retirement. She enjoyed spending time alone, but loved spending time with her family and her close circle of friends who meant so much to her. Surviving is her daughters, Glenda C. Bishop and husband Eugene of Raleigh, NC and Cheryl B. Thomas and husband Roger of Sanford, NC; sister, Mary Lee Smith of Wilson, NC; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Friends and family are welcome at Bernice's house on Friday (6/12/2026) between the hours of 1pm-5pm  to visit with the family.   The family will also receive friends from 1pm-2pm on Saturday (6/13/2026) at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Paul Backlund officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the Broadway Town Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
