Bernie Warren McNeill, age 91 of Angier, formerly of Fayetteville, died Monday (10/29/2018) at Oak Hill Assisted Living Facility. He was born in Lee County on August 27, 1927, son of the late James Andrew McNeill and Alice Victoria Kelly McNeill. He was preceded in death by his wife Ollie Mariel Griffin McNeill; parents and siblings, Henry Clyde McNeill, G. Lemon McNeill, J. Carlos McNeill, Addie M. Allegood, J. Clayborne McNeill, Verlie M. Groce, Nannie M. Davenport, Beulah McNeill, Quinton McNeill and Winelle M. Harrington. Bernie Warren was a graduate of Broadway High School and the Winston Salem Barber College. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 525 in Fayetteville. He was a barber at Mac's Barber Shop in Broadway from 1949-1960 and co-owner of Mac's Barber and Beauty Supply in Fayetteville from 1960-1985 and was a member of Faith Wesleyan Church in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday (11/3/2018) at the Broadway United Methodist Church in Broadway, with Rev. Cyndi McClendon and Rev. Wayne Chandler officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving is his son Barry Steven McNeill and wife, Anne Christy-McNeill of Fuquay - Varina, NC. Grandson Thomas "Toby" Andrew McNeill and wife Becky of Corning NY. Granddaughter Kelly Cawthon McNeill and partner Paul Starr of Rochester, NY and great granddaughters Cora and Kassidy McNeill. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday (11/2/2018) evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Wesleyan Church, 2922 Legion Road Fayetteville, NC 28306.
