Obituary

Bessie Lenora Wilt Moss passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013. She was born on June 27, 1928 in Newport News, Virginia, the only daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude Todd Wilt. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Arthur Curtis "A.C" Moss, Jr., who passed away on January 28, 2013. She is also preceded in death by two of her brothers, Ray Wilt and Arthur Wilt.
She devoted her adult life to family and church. She was active in Girls Auxiliary and served as G.A. Director for many years. In addition, she was involved in leadership roles with the Girl Scouts. She encouraged her children's talents through the arts; piano, dance, and art lessons. Church and community involvement was a priority. She loved to travel with her husband and was exceptionally talented in many areas, sewing, stained glass, quilting, and organizing. She was known by family as "Sis" and friends called her "Bessie". Bessie is survived by her two daughters, Linda Moss Leonard and husband Mike of Cleveland, Tenn., and Laura Moss Phillips of Sanford, NC. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips Williams and husband Tony of Belmont, NC, Laura Drumm Edrington and husband Doug of Harrison, Tenn., Arthur Scott Drumm of Cleveland, Ten, and Blair Phillips Nail and husband Jordan of Cary, NC, two brothers, Lawrence Wilt and wife Sissy of Seaford, Va., and James Wilt and wife Joanie of Williamsburg, Va. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Virginia will be scheduled for some time in March 2014 where she will be laid to rest along with her beloved husband. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
