Betty T. Thomas, age 88 passed away on Wednesday morning (10/12/2022) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.  She was born in Lee County on August 1, 1934, daughter of the late Narvie James Thomas and Juanita Wicker Thomas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lonnie Thomas, son Mike Thomas and brother Narvie J. Thomas Jr. Betty graduated from Boone Trail High School and was a past member of Shallow Well Church where she taught Sunday school and bible school classes.  She is a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.  She really enjoyed attending the B.E.S.T. Sunday School Class and attending the monthly prime time luncheons.  Before she retired, she was co-owner and operator of the family business Broadway Produce and Thomas Poultry Farms. She had previously co-owned and operated with her husband, Sanway Mobile Home Sales and Woodland Trails Mobile Home Park.  She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, and playing her piano by ear.  She was a loving mother, grandma, sister and wife.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Sunday at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Parsons and Rev. Scott Yow officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shallow Well Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday evening at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.  Surviving is her daughter, Gracie Thomas Freeman and husband Howie of Sanford, NC.  Grandson, William Freeman of Sanford, NC, brother Kenneth Thomas and wife Peggy of Broadway, NC and her nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank our family, friends, Sandy Stone, Jessica Brewer, Tina and Hannah Denson, Community Home Care and Hospice and Dr. Robert McConville for all the love and care shown.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
