Billy Ray Morgan, age 76 of Broadway, died Monday (1/30/2012) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Holton Henley Morgan and Hermie Utly Ennis Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary Lee Morgan and his sister Betty Layne Morgan King. He was a former employee of L.P. Cox Company and worked for Partnership Property Management. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Broadway Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Wednesday at the Broadway Presbyterian Church with Rev. Richard Rhodda officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years Suzanne Diederichs Morgan of the home; Children Sabrina Morgan Currin of Lillington, NC; Billy Paul Morgan and wife Jo of Winterville, NC, Marilyn Morgan Stone of Sanford, NC, Garry Lee Morgan of Broadway, NC, Kathy Morgan Rosser and husband Randy of Sanford, NC, Michelle Morgan Stuart and husband Tim of Gardner, Kansas and Patricia Morgan Beal and husband Jamie of Sanford, NC; Grandchildren Joshua Rogerson, Megan Morgan, Jarett Currin, Danielle Currin, Christina Stuart, Forrest Stuart and Emma Stuart. Brother-in-law Gilbert Diederichs and wife Odette of Paris, France and Sister-in-laws Christine Diederichs Charnot and Jacqueline Diederichs Lambert both of Is-En-Bassigny, France. The family will recieve friends from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations are given to the Stevens Center, 1576 Kelly Drive Sanford, NC 27330 or to the Broadway Presbyterian Church, PO Box 365 Broadway, NC 27505. Arrangments are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
