Brenda Arlene Sloan Hicks, age 79 of Carthage, formerly of Broadway, passed away on Friday (10/31/2025) at Peak Resources Pinelake in Carthage.  She was born on July 17, 1946, daughter of the late Marvin Vance Sloan and Evelyn Virginia Brown Sloan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Coy Spencer Hicks and her brothers, Wayne Sloan and Bruce Sloan.  Brenda was a longtime member of Salem Presbyterian Church, enjoyed cross stitching and going to the beach.  She was a friend to many and enjoyed spending time with her family.  She is survived by her sister, Sarah Sloan of Sanford, NC; brother, Allen Sloan and wife Debbye of Hampstead, NC; stepchildren, Catherine Hicks Duran, Rebecca Hicks Edmondson and Robert Hicks all of Washington State and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, (11/4/2025) at Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Julie Hughes officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
