Brenda McNeill Willett, age 70 of Sanford, died Tuesday (8/19/2014). She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Edward Warren McNeill and Zula Mae Patterson McNeill. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger Willett, Sister Mildred Jeffries and Brother Lewis "Bozo" McNeill. She was an Ordained Elder and member of the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church where she as the current moderator of the Women of the Church, Served as the older youth leader for many years and was a member of the choir. She received the North Carolina Governor's Award for Volunteering and was a Volunteer at the Breadbasket, Temple Theater, Lee County Helping Hands Clinic, North Carolina Cooperative Extension in Lee County and at Greenwood Elementary School. She was the President in 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2012 of the Lee County Extension and Community Association, and President of the Lemon Springs ECA Club for 2004,2005,2010,2011 and 2012. She was a Member of the Lee County Emergency Operations Planning, Retired from Central Carolina Community College, and was a retired Lee County EMT. She was an employee of First Choice Home Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Friday at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her son LeEdward Neil Willett of Sanford, NC; Three grandchildren, Johnathon Willett, Tyler Neil Willett and Hannah Caitlin Willett; four great grandchildren; niece Katrina Stafford, nephew Scott Jeffries, great niece and nephew Anna and Ben Stafford. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 1-3pm Friday at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
