Bruce Sexton Jones, age 82 of Moncure, died Friday (6/1/2018) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Chatham County, son of the late Noie Sexton Jones and Una Williams Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Zola Morton and his daughter Terry Poythress. He was retired from UNC Chapel Hill, was a member of New Elam Christian Church and was a member of Apex Masonic Lodge No. 584 AF&AM. Graveside funeral services with Masonic Rites will be conducted at 11am Monday at the New Elam Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack Phillips officiating. Surviving is his wife Myrtle Phillips Jones of the home. Sons, Ray Jones and wife Wenona of Marston, NC and Phillip Jones of Moncure, NC. Son in law Phil Poythress of Chapel Hill, NC, four granddaughters and four great grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm on Sunday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
