Carey Michael Fincher, age 78 of Sanford, passed away on Saturday (8/1/2026) at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. He was born in Lee County, son of the late Neil Nall Fincher and Lillie Mae Johnson Fincher. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Wayne Fincher, Junior Fincher, and JE Fincher. Carey was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church and retired after 31 years from Honeywell. He enjoyed music, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He also loved spending time with his family and his grand dog, Scout. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Weldon Fincher of the home; daughters, Crys Jones and her children, Oscar Jones and Sydney Jones of Douglas, Alaska, and Renee Fincher of Raleigh, NC, sisters Mae Belle Whitfield of Broadway, NC, Helen Clark of Sanford, NC, Barbara Williams of Sanford, NC, Diane Measamer of Sanford, NC, and brother Ronnie Fincher of Sanford, NC. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 8 at 2PM at Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Julie Hughes and Rev. Curtis Fussell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the Salem Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
