Carl Ray Elkins, age 82 of Broadway, died Friday (12/14/2012) at his home. He was born on May 8, 1930 in Chatham County, son of the late Noah Lee Elkins and Martha Anne Fields Elkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Jessie Elkins, Newby Elkins, Leroy Elkins, Talmadge Elkins, Johnnie Elkins, Fred Elkins, Myrtie Elkins Branson and Annabelle Elkins Hudson. He was a member of the Juniper Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was retired from Allied Fibers. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Tuesday at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Akron B. Elkins; Daughters Patsy Rogers and husband Paul, and Debra Morrison and husband Danny all of Sanford, NC; Son David Elkins and wife Debbie of Sanford, NC; Brother Worth Elkins of Pittsboro, NC; Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church and other times at the home of Patsy and Paul Rogers, 193 Peppermill Road Sanford. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
