Carol Cochran Jones age 79 of Broadway passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024. She was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on September 21, 1944, daughter of the late Harold Herman Cochran and Helen Gugler Cochran. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Penny Jo Stitt and brother Donald Lee Cochran. She was a hair stylist for many years. Carol was the founder and owner of Carol's Salon in Broadway.  She was also a well-known local artist and book illustrator. She loved to travel and accomplished traveling to all 50 states. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was among her favorite things to do.   A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Lee officiating.  Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Sherrill Jones of the home.  Son, Richard Dean Jones (Beth) of Melbourne, Fla. Daughters, Teresa Jones Hobbs (Tom) of Bahama, NC and Tamara Jones Turner (Mark) of Clayton, NC.
