Obituary

Cathey Hall, 57, of Sanford, North Carolina, passed away on November 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

Cathey was a woman whose love was best expressed through the things she did for the people around her. She found joy in feeding her loved ones, making sure no one ever left hungry, and bringing family together around the table. She enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and spending time relaxing with her favorite old sitcoms. But above all else, Cathey's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Spoiling them was her favorite pastime, and she took great pride in loving each of them in her own special way.

Cathey leaves behind her fiancé, Mark Cummings and sister Lynn Wilmouth. She also leaves behind her three daughters, Ashley (Alex) Melpolder, Erica Shorts, and Chasity (Darren Flowers) Raif and two step-daughters Morgan Cummings, and Kasey Cummings.

Her grandchildren, Dixie, Aurora, Ainsley, Franklin, and Rylee were the light of her life who will forever carry her love and memories in their hearts. They brought her endless happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether through a special treat, a warm hug, or simply being together, Cathey made sure they knew just how much they were loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Travis, her sister Trisha Travis. son in law Daniel Shorts, and grandson Arthur Melpolder.

Though her family will miss her more than words can express, the memories she created, the love she gave, and the traditions she passed down will live on through the generations. Her seat at the table may be empty, but the love she shared will always fill the room.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 5-7pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
