Charles Leonard Hopkins Sr., age 83 of Sanford, died Friday (10/27/2017) at Liberty Commons in Sanford. He was born in Alamance County, son of the late John O. Hopkins and Leter Alice Martindale Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents. He loved to work on cars and he loved to grow flowers. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Curtis Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. Surviving is his daughter Patricia Ashby of Anderson, NC. Sons, Jerry Lee Hopkins of Burlington, NC and Charles Leonard Hopkins Jr. of Sanford. Sister Ruby Baker of Asheboro, NC, brother Samuel Hopkins of Burlington, NC, five grandchildren and his special friend, Mary Ishmael of Sanford.
