Charles Chester Patterson, age 84 of Broadway, passed away on Tuesday (3/3/2020) at his home.  He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Edgar Horace Patterson and Abigail Cummings Patterson.  Charles was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.  He was an active member of the Cool Springs United Methodist Church, was a farmer and worked at the Harnett County Recycling Center, Roberts Co. and Sanford Finishing.   Funeral services will be conducted at 4pm Thursday at the Cool Springs United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Surviving is his wife Sue Logan Patterson of the home.  Son Charles Edgar Patterson and wife Gail of Broadway.  Step-son Michael Wayne Dellinger and wife Pam of Robbins, NC.  Grandchildren Brenda Gail Holder, Jamie Sue Swider, John Wicker, Bryan Wicker, Tony Atkins and several great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
