Charles Glenn Stone, age 71 of Sanford, passed away on Sunday (8/11/2019) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.  He was born in Lee County, son of the late Burnice Lee Stone and Eunice Lee Stone.  He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Harry, Burnice Jr., Charlene and Mabel, and his first wife Edna Marie Keiter Stone.  Charles was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 3:00pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fallon Melvin officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the funeral home.  Surviving is his wife Rebecca Allen Stone,   Daughter Tracey Griese and husband Joseph of Newport, PA.  Sister Sylvia Nunnery of Sanford, NC and brothers Harvey Stone, Bennie Stone, William Stone and Roger Stone all of Sanford, NC.  Grandchildren Alyssia Quickle and husband Dustin, Nicole Griese, Michelle Griese and three great grandchildren.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
