Charlie Bert "Charles" Sloan III., age 62 of Broadway, died Friday (5/3/2013) at UNC Hospitals as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on (4/22/2013). He was born in Lee County, the son of the late Clara Stone Sloan and Charlie Bert Sloan Jr. He was also preceded in death by a sister Patricia Sloan Peedin. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Tuesday at Crossroads Ministries with Rev. Paul Backlund officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his son Charlie Bert Sloan IV and wife Teresa of Cumming, GA; Daughters Wendy Sloan Phillips and husband Dusty of Broadway, NC and Tammy Sloan Palmieri and husband Scott of Holly Springs, NC; Brothers Larry Sloan and wife Janet and Jerry Sloan and wife Bonnie of Sanford, NC; Sisters Judy Buchanan and husband Joe of Lillington, NC and Joyce Sloan and fiancé Steve Franks of Broadway; Numerous nieces and nephews and Grandchildren Benjamin Douglas, Trey Phillips, Brent and Hope Sloan, Daniel and Ryan Palmieri and great granddaughter Nya Douglas. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the home of Joyce Sloan, 200 Harrington Avenue Broadway.
