Charlie Thomas Poole, age 76 of Broadway, died Monday (8/27/2012) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Randolph County, son of the late Charlie Tate Poole and Alice Haithcock Poole. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marie Poole and Mary Langley and his wife Gaynelle Poole. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday at the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Welborn and Daniel McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City. Surviving are his daughters Phyllis Elliott and husband Bill of the home, Mary Burke and husband Robert of Bear Creek, NC, Lisa Brown and husband Don of Pittsboro, NC and Kristina Byington and husband Steven of Sanford, NC; Sister Cora Poole of California. Fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the family home, 795 Patterson Road Broadway. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
