Claudia Nelle Roberts Smith, age 84 of Sanford, passed away on Friday (8/9/2019) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.  She was born in Harnett County, daughter of the late Euette Martin Roberts and Sarah Margaret Stewart Roberts.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ray J. Smith.  Her parents, brother Murk Roberts, Sister Dorothy Cummings, and great granddaughter Chloe Leslie. Claudia was a graduate of Boone Trail High School and attended Campbell College.  She was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church and owned and operated restaurants in the Moore County area over the past thirty years.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington, NC with Rev. Dr. Jerome Smith, Rev. William Spencer and Brad Marona, ThD officiating.  Burial will be in the Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Surviving are her daughters Sharon Fields and husband Jimmy of Carthage, NC, Raynelle Allred of Carthage, NC, Darline Ratliff of Sanford, NC and Janet Smith of Sanford, NC.  Sister Sandra Patterson and husband Ed of Broadway, NC.  Brothers E.M. Roberts Jr. of Broadway, NC and Clyde Earl Roberts of Oriental, NC.  Twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
