Daniel Elbert "Jr." Arnette Jr., age 89 of Broadway, died Thursday (6/18/2015) at the First Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Pinehurst. He was born in Ozark, Alabama on November 5, 1925, son of the late Daniel Elbert Arnette Sr. and Della Taylor Arnette. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twelve brothers and sisters and his wife Virginia S. Arnette. He was retired from Stevens Milling Company after 47 years of service and was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church for 70 years. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday at the Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike McVey and Rev. Sarah Smith-Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his daughter Virginia Dale Arnette of Fayetteville, NC; Sons Pat Arnette and wife Margaret of Sanford, NC and Mike Arnette and wife Judy of Raleigh, NC; Special daughters, Ann J. Savage and Rita Finner both of Fayetteville, NC; Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Lee County Enrichment Center, Meals on Wheels Program, 1615 S. Third St. Sanford, NC 27330.
