David Joseph "Rabbit" Heron, age 55 of Broadway, died Thursday (8/14/2014) at First Health Hospice Center in Pinehurst. He was born in Lee County, son of the late David Gordon Heron and Jewel Page Heron Rouse. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday at Baptist Chapel Church with Rev. Alex Smith and Rev. George Stallings officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife Marsha Alston Heron of the home; Daughter Amanda Heron of the home and son Dustin Heron of the home; Sisters Julie Causey and husband Don of Sanford, NC and Jennifer Lee Heron of Carthage, NC; Brother James Lewis Heron of Sanford, NC and grandson Lucas Heron. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
