David Jackson Riggsbee, age 72 of Lillington, died Tuesday (8/21/2012) at the E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington. He was born in Hoke County, son of the late Thomas Jackson Riggsbee Sr. and Ella Blanche Taylor Riggsbee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Brandon Hill. Graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday at the Broadway Town Cemetery with Rev. Gary Buffkin and Rev. Christopher Crenshaw officiaiting. Surviving are his wife Sandra Strickland Riggsbee of Sanford, NC; daughters Wendy Hill and husband Brent of Lillington, NC, Janet Seybert and husband Jerrold of Madison, Tennessee and Rachel Crenshaw and husband Christopher of Rockfish, NC; Step-children Gordon T. Hawkins of Sanford, NC, Roger W. Hawkins and wife Anna of Lillington, NC and Sherri M. Epps of Cameron, NC; Sisters Margaret R. Collis and husband Dave of Warren, Michigan, Betty R. Drye and husband Doug of Rockwell, NC, Joyce R. Starnes and husband Bobby of Norwood, NC; Brothers William T. Riggsbee of Stanfield, NC, John D. Riggsbee and wife Peggy of Stanfield, NC and Thomas J. Riggsbee Jr. and wife Polly of Norwood, NC; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Thursday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the family home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 370, Broadway, NC 27505. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
