Delsie Brown McArthur, age 83 of Broadway, died Friday (2/1/2013) at the E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington. She was born in Harnett County, daughter of the late James Henderson Brown and Nellie Loveday Holder Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edmond Brown and Ferrell Brown and sister Jean Brown Nunnery. She was a member of the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Mount Pisgah Church Choir. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Monday at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Samuel "Sam" McArthur of the home; Daughter Phyllis Pearson of Zebulon, NC; Sons Robert V. McArthur and wife Yvonne of Broadway, NC and J. Mike McArthur of Broadway, NC; Sisters Ora Lee Brown Clayton of Broadway, NC and Mona Brown McNeill of Sanford, NC; Brothers Elton Eustace Brown of Spring Lake, NC, Jerry Monroe Brown of Merlin, Oregon, Jimmy Baxter Brown of New Port, Richey, Florida and Royce Brown of Cary, NC; Step Sisters Mary Ann Jackson of Stedman, NC and Kathleen Frease of Vander, NC; Step-brother Clyde Smith of Mebane, NC; Grandchildren Erica Ammons, Johnny Andrew Pearson, Cindy Burton, Jamie White, Samantha Eller and Robert McArthur; eleven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
