Dennis Duane Poukka, age 73 of Sanford, died Saturday (1/15/2022) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.  He was born on August 16, 1948, son of the late Vernon Poukka and Judy Poukka.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his wife of 46 years, Ruby McGehee Poukka.  Dennis was a Veteran of the United States Army.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Surviving is his daughter, Amy Poukka of New Mexico. Step-daughters, Kathy Lynn Johnson and Belinda Thomas of Sanford, NC. Step-son, James Edward Johnson of Charlotte, NC.  Twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are made in memory of Dennis to CARA- Carolina Animal Rescue or to the Lee County Animal Shelter.
