Doris Jean Womack Cummings, age 85 of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 with her family by her side at the First Health Hospice Home.  She was born on September 28, 1938, daughter of the late Willis Mack Womack and Mattie Mae Matthews Womack Rogers.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Billy Ray Womack , Jack  Womack and her husband, Charles Ted Cummings.  Jean was a lifelong member of Juniper Springs Baptist Church and retired after many years at Moen.  She loved spending time with her family, traveling , and going fishing.  She was loved by her family and everyone in the community.  Surviving is her son, Charles Lynn Cummings (Lynda) of Sanford, NC and  daughter, Rhonda  Jean Cummings Funkhouser (Shane) of Vass, NC.  Sisters, Faye Thomas (Steve) and Frances Williams of Sanford, NC.  Brothers, Richard Womack (Josephine)  and Willis Mack Womack Jr. (Peggy) of Sanford, NC.  Grandchildren, Zachary David Cummings, William Grant Cummings, Danielle Michelle Cummings Velazquez (David),  Christopher Michael Blue (Dakota) , Shane Donovan Funkhouser and four great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday  (6/29/2024) at Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Thomas and Pastor Michael Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the home of Charles and Lynda Cummings.  Flowers are welcome or memorials can be made to Juniper Springs Baptist Church, 852 Buckhorn Road, Sanford, NC 27330 in Jean's memory.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
