Dorothy Ann Thomason Lester, age 72 of Broadway, died Sunday (6/28/2015) at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born in Bluefield, Virginia, daughter of the late William Estell Thomason and Nora Vada Mabury Thomason. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Jonathan Lester, daughter-in law Tina Lester, Brothers Robert Thomason and Richard Thomason and a grandson Brandon Gillespie. Memorial service will be held at 12:00pm Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. George Akers officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:00pm at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Surviving is her husband John Lester of the home; Sons Gordon Leland Gillespie Jr. and wife Diane of Fayetteville, NC, Clarence Daniel Gillespie and wife Dana of Fayetteville, NC and Brian Kelly Lester and wife Kelly Jean of Sanford, NC; Brothers William Cecil Thomas on Columbia, SC and James Alan Thomason of Falls Mills, VA; Nine grandchildren, Amanda Sherley, Amber Carter, Brittany Gillespie, Jessica Gillespie, Desiree Gillespie, Quinton Lester, Mathew Lester, Jason Lester, Joshua David Lester and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
