Edna Coore Duke, age 75 of Sanford, died Saturday (5/2/2020) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.   She was born in Lee County on July 3, 1944, daughter of the late L.E. Coore and Mazie Johnson Coore.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Badders, and husband James Duke Sr.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.  Surviving are her children, James Duke Jr. (Cindy) of Sanford, NC and Shelia Duke Norris of Cameron, NC.  Sister, Mary Poppa of Cameron, NC, brothers Norman Coore of Sanford and James Coore of Broadway, NC, grandchildren, Jerry Lee Norris, Johnny Wayne Norris, Michael Ray Norris, and Kevin Wallace Norris.  Step-grandchildren Kasey and Karly McNeill, great grandchildren, Ethan and "Little Man" and her dog Little Bit.   Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the Smith Funeral Home for funeral expenses.   Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
