Edward Clifford Poppa, age 70 of Cameron, died Wednesday (4/23/2014) at his home.  He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Loyce Poppa and a sister Helen Golden.  He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was retired from the NC Department of Corrections.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2:00pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Douglas Garner and Mr. Andrew Sharum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shallow Well Church Cemetery.  Surviving are his wife Mary Coore Poppa of the home; Daughter Amanda Poppa Stevenson and husband Mark of Cameron,NC and grandchildren Hayley, Blake,Melody and Allen.  The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the family home.  Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
