Edwin Monroe Manning, age 80 of Sanford, died Friday (4/19/2013) at his home. He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Kirby Manning and Jewel Holley Manning. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was retried from GKN Automotive. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Sunday at the Shallow Well United Church of Christ Cemetery with Rev. Donald Thompson and Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. Surviving are his wife Wilma Darnell Manning of the home; Sons Douglas Edwin Manning of the home and Darrell Monroe Manning and wife Bobby Jo of Gillsville, GA; Sister Doris Koloup and husband Calvin of Eustis, Florida; Brothers John Manning and wife Betty of Vanceboro, NC, Noah Manning and wife Barbara of Thomasville, NC and Charles Manning and wife Betty of Coats, NC; Grandchildren Jessica Cheryl Manning, Kevin Manning and Brandon Manning and Two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Shallow Well United Church of Christ. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
