Heaven opened its gates on September 4 to welcome Betsy McLeod as she passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Bragg McLeod; parents Joe and Arlie Cashwell; brothers Hazel, Oscar, Alvin, Troy, and Frank; sisters Carrie Maness, Evelyn Honeystuffle, and Nellie Faircloth Pruitt.
Betsy was a hard-working, creative person that loved her church, family, friends, and all of God's creations. She exemplified her faith by supporting and finding the good in all. She enjoyed her days on earth being close to nature, arranging flowers, reading, caring for others, and taking drives for ice cream. She was a dedicated employee to McLeod Trucking for over forty years.
She is survived by her daughters Ann Callahan (Rusty) of Lake Waccamaw and Sue Creighton (Roy) of Raleigh; granddaughters Shannon Callahan, Susanne Griffin (Michael), and Michelle Kornegay (Bo); five great and four great-great-grandchildren; and step children Beth McLeod (Jon Krall), Mary Darden McLeod; and T. McLeod II (Jennifer); and step-grand-daughters Roxie Spring (Pete) and Sherri Creighton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betsy was a long-time active member of Haymount Methodist Church, Fayetteville, and later transferred her membership to Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Broadway, NC.
Due to COVID 19 a private graveside service will be held at Mt. Pisgah Church by Pastor Doug Houston. Funeral arrangements are being made by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway.
Memorials may be made to Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church, General Fund, PO Box 1302, Broadway, NC 27505, the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice or the favorite charity of the donor.
