Eunice Maddox Cameron, age 98 of 3503 Avents Ferry Road Sanford, died Friday (8/31/2012) at Sanford Health and Rehab. She was born on January 17, 1914, daughter of the late James Arthur Maddox and Shepard Rosser Maddox. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Cameron; Sisters Elsie Hawley, Ollie Thomas, Lillian Bullis and Theresa Maddox; Brothers Velvin Maddox, L.O. Maddox, Clyde Maddox and Vernon Maddox; Her foster daughter Barbara R. Williams and her husband Sherrill Williams. She was a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church and was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women. She was retired from the Lee County School System as the Food Service Director. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers of Lee County with her membership beginning in 1933 and she was an avid North Carolina State Basketball fan. Funeral services will be conducted at 4pm Monday at the Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Norman Whitney and Rev. Tyler Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her son Cecil Cameron and wife Faye of Sanford, NC; Sister Chloie M. Gulledge of Sanford, NC; Foster daughter Frances Warner of Lemon Springs, NC; Grandchildren Susan Cameron Bailey and husband Greg, Carolyn Cameron Fowler and husband Mal and Lisa Williams; Great-grandchildren Caitlin Whitaker, Daniel Whitaker, Luke Fowler, Clay Fowler, Allena Bailey, Tristan Reed and Cameron Reed. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the family home, 3503 Avents Ferry Road Sanford. In lieu of flower the family request memorial donations be made to the Salem Presbyterian Church Roof Fund, 3554 Avents Ferry Road Sanford, NC 27330. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
