Evaline Sloan Thomas, age 93 of Sanford, passed away on Thursday (11/20/2025) at Liberty Commons in Sanford.  She was born on June 26, 1932, youngest daughter of the late Garland Sloan and Blanche Lett Sloan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rufus Henry Thomas; son, Rufus Brady Thomas and siblings, Nettie Belle Garner, John Sloan, Carlie Sloan, Fred Sloan and Frank Sloan.  Evaline was a woman of strong faith and was a longtime member of Juniper Springs Baptist Church.  She loved to go to church, and if she wasn't there in person, she watched it on the television.  She enjoyed cooking for her family, working out in the yard, going to the beauty shop, collecting antique furniture and spending time with her family.  She is survived by her son, Milton Thomas (Connie) of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wicker, Jason Thomas (Brandee), Joshua Thomas, Derrick Sharpe (Chris); eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on Monday (11/24/2025) at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway.  Funeral service will be conducted at 3pm with Rev.
