George Edward Brafford, age 72 of Sanford, passed away on Thursday (1/30/2025) at his home.  He was born on April 7, 1952, son of the late Grady George Brafford and Annie Bell Johnson Brafford.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy "Sissy" Wilson Brafford, son, Grady Brafford, brother, Aaron Brafford and sisters, Hazel Clarke, Mary Parrish and Ann Price.  George worked for many years in the construction industry and later at Frontier.  He was a man who loved animals and nature, and he spent countless hours walking across the farmland that he lived on.  He is survived by his sons, Gene Brafford and Michael Brafford of Sanford, NC; sisters, Margie Holloman of Fuquay Varina, NC and Alma Dickerson of Sanford, NC; brothers, Jimmy Brafford of Sanford, NC, David Brafford of Kenly, NC and David Mouberry of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother-in-law, Jack Clarke of Lexington, SC; granddaughter, Samantha Brafford Donathan; numerous nieces and nephews and his special companions, Obama, Bonnie and Clyde.  The family will receive friends on Friday (2/7/2025) from 1-3pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
