George Alton McLamb age 97 of Broadway passed away peacefully at his home on May 30, 2024. He was born in Johnston County on November 21, 1926 son of the late, Willis Edgar McLamb and Phoebe Godwin McLamb.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years, Inez H. McLamb, daughter -in - law, Pat McLamb, granddaughters, Brittany McLamb, Ashley Johnson, grandson, Jeffrey Johnson, great-grand-daughter, Sasha Johnson, sisters, Alma Krueger, Lala Moon, Vada Dawson, Ernestine Ledford and his step-mother, Thelma McLamb.  He was a farmer, worked at Cornell Dubilier and retired from the City of Sanford Water Plant.   George loved to work in his garden and share the vegetables with his family, friends and many in the community.  Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Houston officiating.   Surviving are his sons, Kenneth McLamb, Dennis McLamb (Gwen) and Eddie McLamb.  Daughter, Debbie Thomas (Joe), Grandsons, Larry Joe Blalock (Jennifer), Grayson McLamb, Johnny Johnson (Irene), Joey Johnson (Misty), and Jamie Johnson (Tammy). Granddaughters, Lenee Evans (Lynn) and Kristy Taylor (Mike).  Fourteen great-grandchildren and Fifteen Great-great grandchildren.  Sisters, Ada Allman, Marie Lee.  Brother, Norwood McLamb and several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends at the family home.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1302, Broadway, NC 27505.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by  Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
