Halford William Patterson

Halford William Patterson, age 87 of Broadway, passed away on Wednesday (12/17/2025) at his home with his family by his side.  He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Thomas Horace Patterson and Beulah Mae Christian Patterson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Frances Douglas, his brothers, Mitchell Patterson and Edison Patterson.  Halford was a devoted man of faith and loved to read his bible.  He was talented and could play the piano, guitar, mandolin and organ.  He wrote and recorded his own music album.   Halford was a family man, who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed working in the garden and was a hard working and humble man of God.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Linda Godfrey Patterson of the home; daughter, Rhonda Patterson Wilson of Sanford, NC; sons, Halford Tex Patterson of Wilmington, NC and William Troy Patterson of South Carolina; sister, Gerline Cagle of Broadway; grandchildren, Jesse Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Ashley Bryant, Jamie Patterson, Justin Patterson and eight great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Friday at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Jesse Wilson and Jeremy Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lemon Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
