Harlen Lloyd Harris, age 88 of Sanford, died Monday (7/28/2014) at Parkview Retirement Center in Sanford. He was born in Goshen, Kentucky, son of the late George Palin Harris and Shirley Sands Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose Robertson Harris, Siblings Chester Harris, Ethel McIntyre, Lester Harris, Lucille Stoll, Clarence Harris, Irene High, Alberta Gehrer and Floyd Harris;and he was a retired Veteran of the United States Army. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday at Baptist Chapel Church with Rev. Alex Smith officiating. On Saturday (8/2/2014) funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm at the Fern Creek Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky. Burial with military honors will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Louisville. Surviving are his daughter Marian Harris Brinley and husband Tom of Sanford, NC; Sons Thomas Lloyd Harris and wife Joann of Florida and Timothy Scott Harris of Shepherdsville, KY; Nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren , twenty four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and on Saturday from 12-2pm at the Fern Creek Funeral Home in Louisville.
