Obituary

Harold Leonard Moore, age 73 of Broadway, passed away on Monday (5/11/2026) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with his family by his side.  He was born in Lee County, son of the late George Ernest Moore Jr.  and Mary Helen Patterson Moore.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, George Ernest "Ernie- Riphawk" Moore III and his stepfather, Bud Bennett.   Harold worked for many years at Allied Fibers which was later know as Honeywell/ Performance Fibers.  He enjoyed racing cars and working on them. He loved to cook, canning vegetables and making homemade pickles.  Harold enjoyed going to the coast to fish on the pier at Surf City and going fishing in his pond with his family and friends.  He enjoyed visiting different battle fields, riding on the train, farming and going camping.  He also volunteered with the girl scouts and boy scouts, often preparing meals for the campers.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Teresa Blakley Moore of the home; daughters, Mary Anne Moore- Rocque (David) of Broadway, NC, Lois Moore Buchanan of Broadway, NC and Patricia "Lynn" Hickmon  (Damon) of Spring Lake, NC; son, Taylor Lynn Moore (Hannah) of Broadway, NC; brother-in-law, Tim Blakley of Sanford, NC and grandchildren, Timmy Rocque, Nick Rocque, Isabella Buchanan, Austin Hickmon, Maelynn Hickmon and great grandchildren, Ivy Moore and Pricilla Marie Moore.   A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday at the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Broadway with Pastor Bill Altman officiating.  The family will receive friends at the home of Harold and Teresa following the graveside service on Sunday afternoon.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
