Helen Gray Matthews Douglas, age 89, of Sanford passed away on September 24, 2025.  She was born June 29, 1936, the daughter of Charles" Charlie" Matthews and Thelma Gray Godfrey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William "Bill" Douglas; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Holman and grandson, Blakelynn Holman.  Helen retired from Heins Telephone company after thirty years as a telephone operator and then from Moen after nineteen years of service. She was a member of Shallow Well Church and loved to bake and enjoyed going to thrift shops. Helen is survived by her children, Marcia Holman Ballard (Michael) of Sanford and son, Patrick Minzey Holman (Dawn) of Sanford; ten grandchildren 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday (9/30/2025) from 12:30-2pm.  A celebration of life service will follow at 2pm with Rev.
