Homer George Mullins, age 72 of Hampstead, formerly of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday (8/4/2026) at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. He was born in Dillon, SC, son of Junior B. Mullins and the late Annie Lee Baker Richardson Haire. He was preceded in death by his mother, and his step-father, Dan Richardson, wife Janet Mullins, and his sister, Carrie Baker Barber. Homer loved to talk to people and often called The Swap Shop. He retired from Lyons Construction where he worked for many years as a utility operator. He enjoyed working on small engines, cooking and hosting pig pickings. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Redden (Robert) of Todd, NC; son, Dan George Mullins of Kinston, NC; sister, Peggy Deal of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Speagle and Jasmin K. Boyce; special nephew who was like a son to him, Ronnie Barber (Michelle) of Hampstead, NC. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. Funeral services will be held at 2pm at the funeral home chapel with Rev.
