Obituary

Jack Redding Wicker, age 83 of Corinth, died Wednesday (10/08/2014) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Chatham County, son of the late Arthur Blake Wicker and Gail Mims Wicker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Bobby Hill Wicker and Gordon Blake Wicker. He was a graduate of Moncure High School and was retired from Carolina Power and Light Company. He was the pianist and organist for many years at Buckhorn United Methodist Church where he was a lifelong member. He was a wonderful cook and was know as the "Chicken Bog King" at CP&L and in the Corinth Community. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday at the Buckhorn United Methodist Church with Rev. Benny Oakes and Rev. Gregg Presnal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are his nephews, Nick Wicker of Corinth, NC and Roger Wicker and wife Barbara of Lemon Springs, NC; Sister- in- law Marie Wicker of Corinth, NC; great nephews Joshua Wicker and wife Dr. Nancy Hart Wicker of Greenwood, SC and Cody Wicker of Lemon Springs, NC; and great- great- niece Willow Psalms Wicker. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be
made to the Buckhorn United Methodist Church, c/o Mary Ann Perkins, 3045 Corinth Road Moncure, NC 27559. The family would like to express our thanks to the caregivers at Parkview Retirement Center who went above and beyond in the care they provided, treating him as part of their family.
