Jeanie Ray departed us unexpectedly on March 15, 2020 but lived a loving life that touched everyone she knew. Born on January 6, 1953, to Robert and Helen Mason, Jeanie was always the quiet, non-judgmental friend, sister, and co-worker who always seemed to bring calm to every storm.
Jeanie's greatest joy in life was her love and devotion for her two sons Adam (46) and Shawn (42), her husband Larry Ray and her home.   Always her "little boys," she relished their every adventure and never tired of their constant devotion. Likewise, Jeanie relished their love of all things outdoors which included horse riding and riding extremely fast motorcycles, but, "not with Mama on board."Jeanie was the artist of the Mason family and was well known for her wonderful sketches of the local river basin areas. She had a true skill for fine woodworking, which made the entire Ray, Mason, and Childress families envious, yet proud. Like her mother, Jeanie's beautiful white hair, instantly caught everyone's eye and it conveyed the calm and trusting soul contained within. Her zest for life and genuine care for others that be missed greatly.  Please join the Ray and Mason families, and their many friends on Saturday from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway, NC for and for rites of burial on Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00 PM at New Elam Christian Church Cemetery in New Hill, NC.
