Joan Langston Bowling, 80, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014. She was born in Newton Grove, NC to the late Osborne and Ophelia Langston. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mack Langston, and Sisters Inez Keen, Pearlie Adams, LaVerna Britt, Marceline Parker, Alice Connolly, and Velma Blackwood. She was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) and Campbell University. She was retired from Central Carolina Community College with over forty years in public education. She was an active member of the Broadway Women's Club, The Democratic Women of Lee County, the Lee County Economic Development Council and the Broadway Planning Board. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Sanford. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the foyer of the church. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later time. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edward Lee Bowling; daughters, Lisa Wishart and husband Frank, Laura Gay and husband PJ; grandchildren Frank Edward and Robert Wishart; Shelby and Callie Davis; Mary Beth Bradbury (Kenny), Michelle Cowherd (Charles); Sisters Pat McPhail and Florene Williams.
