John Lindsey Burgess, age 85 of Lillington, passed away on Monday (10/06/2025) at Liberty Commons with his family by his side.  He was born in Harnett County, son of the late James Carey Burgess and Mary Leola Cameron Burgess.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers J.C. Burgess Jr., Winfred Burgess, George Burgess, Sam Burgess, Clifton Burgess and Kenneth Burgess.  He was a member of Lillington Masonic Lodge No.302, and enjoyed baseball, softball and wood carvings.  He is survived by his wife, Brenda D. Burgess of the home; daughter, Christy B. Holder of Lillington, NC; son, Michael J. Burgess (Sarah) of Lillington, NC and James L. Burgess of Mount Olive, NC and Mary Lucille McLamb of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Thursday morning at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with Rev. Scott Yow and Rev.
