John Richard Fortenberry Sr., age 63 of Sanford, died Tuesday (4/2/2013) at his home. He was born in Jefferson Davis, Mississippi, son of the late Walter Isaac Fortenberry and Charlotte Carson Fortenberry. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00pm Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Janet Buffaloe officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service from 2-4pm Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. Surviving are his wife Mary Elizabeth Flitcraft Fortenberry of the home; Daughter Melissa Faith Dodds (Chris) of Moncure, NC; Sons Timothy Michael Fortenberry (Amy) of Broadway, NC and John Richard Fortenberry Jr. of Murfeesboro, Tennessee; Sister Beverly F. Flitcraft (Ronald) of Pennsville, NJ; Brothers Walter Fortenberry (Marlene) of Yorktown, VA and William Fortenberry (Belinda) of Pennsville, NJ; Eight grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
