John Paul Sanderford, age 78 of Moncure, passed away on Sunday (8/11/2024) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.  He was born in Johnston County, son of the late John Elton Sanderford and Mavis Eason Sanderford.  He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Jack Sanderford, Phyllis Gullie, Rose House, Betty Sanderford Stone, and Hazel Sanderford; sons, Paul "Andy" Sanderford and John Paul "Paulie" Sanderford.  Paul enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf and tending to his animals.   He retired after 30 years with Americal Hosiery Mill, and worked for 16 years in the family logging business.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances House Sanderford of the home.  Children, June Caviness (Anthony), Billy Joseph Gurley (Michelle), Lora Davis (Jimmy) and Christopher Sanderford.  Sister, Lena Sanderford Stone, brother, Joe Sanderford; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday (8/14/2024) at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway from 6:00-8:00 PM.  Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday (8/15/2024) at New Elam Christian Church Cemetery beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev.
