Joseph Patterson, age 72 of Sanford, died Tuesday (4/14/2015) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Joseph Britton Patterson and Rebecca Wallace Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Christopher Joseph Patterson. A Memorial service will be conducted at 7:00pm Friday evening at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Surviving is his wife Aubrae Sloan Patterson of the home; Daughter Debbie Stutts of Benson, NC; Sons Mark C. Patterson and James B. Patterson both of the home, and Richard J. Patterson of Mamers, NC; Sisters Myrtle Oldham of Bear Creek, NC and Loretta Worrells of Mamers, NC; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, from 6:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations are made to the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 370 Broadway, NC 27505 to assist with funeral expenses.
